Bád SHiobhán

Bád Shiobhán (Siobhán’s Boat) is a performance piece by choreographer Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín featuring her father, traditional boat-builder Pádraig Ó Duinnín.

The piece is a subtle reconfiguring of life experiences they share, particularly those that have been moulded by the culture and tradition of boats and boat-building. Performed by Siobhán and Pádraig, Bád Shiobhán is a delicate unpicking of a daughter-father relationship through movement, text and song.  Using traditional boat-building materials of wood and canvas to create textures that are both playful and striking, the work is an invitation to view tradition, familial and otherwise, in a different light.

Bád Shiobhán has been performed at Cork Midsummer Festival 2021; Dance Limerick, Dance Season at Uillinn - West Cork Arts Centre 2022, Dancer From The Dance Festival of Irish Choreography 2023 and screened at Florida State University Museum of Modern Art 2024
